An employee from the Byram Hills Senior High School reported to police at approximately 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25, that there was a dog running at large in the area. Less than two hours earlier, a nearby resident reported to police that her golden retriever had run away from home at approximately 5:30 a.m. that same morning.
Two officers responded to the school and one was able to secure the dog and help it into a squad car. They subsequently returned the dog to its owner, who was issued a summons for letting her dog roam free in the area.
Other items from the North Castle Police Department blotter from Friday, Sept. 22 through Thursday, Sept. 27 include:
- A Sunrise Drive resident reported to police in North Castle of a tractor-trailer car carrier loading exotic cards in front of his home. The caller spoke with the driver, who asked whose car he was loading, to which the driver pointed to a neighbor’s house on Deer Ridge Lane. Police said the caller stated that he knows his neighbor, and that was not his car. Upon arrival, officers said the vehicle was gone. A canvas of the area didn’t turn up the car.
- Police intervention was required on Monday, Sept. 24, when a Rock Cliff Place requested an officer’s presence as she was getting a table delivered and was expecting a dispute from her neighbor. Police said that the resident has butted heads with the neighbor before about similar instances. An officer was sent to the home and the table was delivered without incident.
- First responders worked quickly to extinguish a fire that broke out on a Whippoorwill Crossing utility pole at approximately 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, amid the storms. Police officers reported that the fire was quickly knocked down and Con Edison shut down power to the location as they worked on repairs.
In total, members of the North Castle Police Department responded to 169 calls last week.
